Ramps in Belmayne
Hi Everyone
Currently there's a need for traffic controls in the area, with speeding along the main roads, putting children (and adults) at risk and there's an ongoing discussion about the kind of ramps we should get.
If anyone here is interested in commenting on this topic and putting in your two pence worth please do so.
Options are:
1. black rubber ramps
OR
2. red brick ramps costing
The issue is, according to KPM, there's not enough money in the bank for the red brick ones and it will be some months before they're installed. The other ones can go down immediately.
What do we think?

Re: Ramps in Belmayne
IIve no problem with any kind of ramp. Just a little question, is this road forming part of the link and if so will the corporation/council not be taking in this road (The road between clare hall and the belmayne entrance). Although safety is of utmost importance we also have to consider the end use of this road as there is little point in putting something down that is going to be ripped up in the next 10 years or so.

That's a good point. Asfar as i know the road is still with the developer but maybe the city council would be prepared to help ahead of time? It wouldn't hurt to ask what their standards are in any case as they should be ramp experts.

What roads are we talking about? Its a crazy amount of money for us to be paying! Should be the developer! I know safety comes first but the way people are starting to demand stuff eg a cattle grid we will all get a bill of 3000 or 4000 next year! Not having a rant now!!

The ramps are included in the budget for next year so your bill won't go up.
The road between Clare Hall and the Information Center is forming part of the common areas of the management company and so will not be administrered by DCC at any stage in the future so it is the responsbility of the management company.
The question was simply about whether people have an opinion on the TYPE of ramp they would like.

If i was picking a ramp the red brick would be first choice , would not be a fan of black rubber ramps the look of them would bring the area down, they have those type of ramps in run down areas! Does the 16k only include that stretch of road ? Or will we get them around the park and so on! With more and more people moving into p7and p5 maybe it might make the fees a little cheaper!!

Re: Ramps in Belmayne
Hi Ash, I think ramps are a good idea, the cars and bikes etc drive way too fast and there is an accident waiting to happen.
As for the colour, well a ramp is a ramp and although it would be nice to have coloured ones complement the surroundings, cost of course should be taken into account.
I assume Kpm have got more than one or two quotes, I am sure there are plenty of companes out there and hope they have been contacted for prices.
Good point about contacting DCC for info and advice, perhaps they could make some reccomendations or shock horror do a nixer
Joking aside, thanks Ash for keeping the forum in the loop. Do keep us posted on this and other items on the committees agenda.
Lastly, just curious can anyone get quotes for consideration or do Kpm take exception to same? Just curious, thats all.

Just seenfasteddies post. I am not seeing prices on my screen, were they removed. Ar the black ones 4k as opposed to 16k for the coloured or am I imagining things.
Also Ash, meant to ask, will either developer make a contribution?

Hi All
Cost is negligible per unit. I removed them as I could see that they were going to cause some controversy. The average cost between 1 type and the next is about eur17 per unit in fees but is included in the long term maintenance of the estate and doesn't impact on the bottom line number for this year
.
The developer is going to be asked about a contribution. We have asked KPM to look at this for us. We are looking for multiple quotes. Quotes will not all have to come through KPM. A member of the committee will be assigned the job of looking at quotes.
The management company is responsible and DCC are not interested – believe me.
There is representative disagreement amongst the committee about the look and feel of the ramps so I decided to throw it out to the floor - black rubber or red brick?

Re: Ramps in Belmayne
Ash, if I read your post correctedly we will be charged 17 euro extra in fees if we go for the coloured type.
Not much to debate then if this is the case and the coloured ramps are equal to or superior in feature to the black ramps.
What I am saying is if each unit is only going to be hit by 17 euro, I would go for the coloured ones obviously.

Hi Dove
The cost will not impact your management fee. The fee will be the same no matter which we choose. The only impact will be the timing. If we go for expensive ones we will have to wait - perhaps months until fees are collected. If we go for inexpensive ones we can get them immediately. You won't be charged any extra.
Thanks for letting us know your preference though.

Re: Ramps in Belmayne
Oh now I feel bad
of course time is of the essence
I didn't realise the money would have to come out of the upcoming fees.
Heaven knows we may need that for something else next year.
I myself have no young children, bar a baby grandson of course
But I can see the need for ramps sooner rather than later.
I hereby officialy change my mind and say get the cheap ones in
