Bin Shed - St Samson's Square

Postby sammies on Wed Jul 28, 2010 10:28 am

I am just posting this in relation to the bin sheds in St Samson’s Square which quite frankly are an absolute disgrace @ the moment.
People just seem to open the door and throw rubbish bags everywhere be it on the ground or inside the door on the right.

There also seems to be a lot of illegal dumping i.e. ironing boards, office chairs, flymo’s, tables etc.

I have cleaned this bin shed on two occasions myself personally and by the looks of things may have to do it again.
Some of the culprits are clearly identifiable due to the fact that personal letters with details visible are strewn everywhere.

I am wondering do any other residents share my concerns as something like this will only continue to get worse and also are there any suggestions in how we could go about combating this?

Many thanks.

Hi,

I'm surprised that nobody has responded yet, because it's an issue that annoys my husband and myself on a regular basis!

(1) putting bins all along the walls of the shed would be a help as people dump in the gaps next to the entrance. The worst area is next to the bottle bin where there is space between the bottle bin and the wall. Putting bigger bottle bins all along this area might help?

(2) We could maybe request that our bin company should clean the shed and not just the wheelie bins when they clean it out

(3) On various occasions the gate is left open by the bin men after collection..

Not sure how practical or relevant above suggestions are, but it would be great if more people would take responsibility with regard to their rubbish and putting stuff in the correct bins.

This is an issue that we also have on a regular basis in the court. Illegal dumping is also taking place and we've already raised this to the management company but the lack of evidence is hard to prove. However, if you find letters with details, please report it to the management company and also to the residents committee. This is something we need to bring on the table as it went for far too long.

Sorry for jumping in, but do you guys have bottle bins? We don't in Belmayne.

Again the bin shed is in an absolute disgrace; a camping bed is the newest addition which appears to have been left there in the dead of night!

People do not seem to care whatsoever about the upkeep etc of the development and this is only going to get worse.
